Our Therapy Dog teams travel throughout Kentucky to schools, hospitals, libraries, and nursing homes to share happiness and provide education (for example: our Therapy Dogs help kids enhance their reading skills through the "Books and Best Friends" program). Ask us about visiting your facility.

Our Therapy Teams are insured through Hartford Casualty Insurance Company

Policy # 12 SBA VE2352

Participating in Kennel Pak & Prince Associates, Inc., insurance program for

Animal Welfare Organizations.

What are Therapy Dogs? Therapy pets willingly give of themselves and have an unconditional love and acceptance of the elderly and handicapped whether they are adults or children. They should be able to motivate people to talk, or reminisce on the past or to accomplish something they haven’t done or tried in years. It could be as simple as a smile or one spoken word, but it could be the first time this has happened in forever. Therapy animals often produce "miracles" by their mere presence.

They can be of any breed, mixed-breed, purebred, small, large, retired from showing, or active showing. Dogs should be familiar at least with Novice Obedience and, preferably, Advanced Obedience work, and should know or learn some tricks. Dogs are expected to get along with other dogs well, as they will be working in close surroundings with other pets. Dogs must get along with adults, children and be comfortable in new and unusual environments.

Aggression on any pets part is not tolerated in this program for obvious reasons. No shyness, or nervousness around strangers or large crowds should be exhibited.

Thank You to our Therapy K-9 Teams

Thank you, to all of you who have trained your K-9s to show unconditional love and compassion towards all humanity, without predjudice young or old. Thank you for your time, the many hours you have spent unselfishly giving to only help and share with others, knowing you will never get paid for your hard work. Your hours of intense training between you and your dog, to get to the point of earning the right to help others and giving the gift of "therapy", which is much more than just a word. In many cases you are giving some people the will to live when they had none before. Some need to feel that furry warm smile is there every week just for them.  Some can't explain, not even doctors know exactly what it is that dogs give us that is so special.

You and your dog are many smiles and warm hearts that money will never buy. Thank you for all you have done to become a Therapy K-9 Team, you are special and very much needed. I hope you realize this, from the first day you arrive at your first visit with that special person sitting there anxiously waiting there for you. Don't be nervous, thanks to you, your dog will do it all. It's like magic.
