NAACR Three-Day Training Course

Pre-Requisites

In order to maintain the curriculum content and excellence of the NAACR training, the following are pre-requisites that must be completed BEFORE you attend the on-site training. These pre-requisites are based on the Animal Assisted Crisis Response National Standards (©2010). You must provide the training team with documentation that you have completed these activities seven days in advance of the course. Please allow adequate time to complete these pre-requisites before the due date.

  1. Incident Command Structure:
    1. Complete FEMA ICS 100 – This is available at http://training.fema.gov/emiweb/is/is100b.asp
    2. Complete FEMA ICS 200 – This is available at http://training.fema.gov/emiweb/is/is200b.asp
    3. Submit completion certificates (downloaded when you complete and pass the course) to Diane Anderson at [email protected]. You must submit these certificates seven days prior to the beginning of your course.
  2. Canine Behavior and Body Language:
    1. View “The Language of Dogs: Understanding Canine Body Language and Other Communication Signals,” by Sarah Kalnajs, 2006. This video is available for purchase ($39.95) from: www.bluedogtraining.com or www.dogwise.com. The video is 2 hours and 13 minutes in length. (Note: You may rent this video from BowWowFlix. Go to www.bowwowflix.com and search by Sarah Kalnajs. )
  3. Mental Health:
    1. Complete the on-line course in Psychological First Aid (http://learn.nctsn.org/course/category.php?id=11) sponsored by the National Child Traumatic Stress Network. Length: 6 hours. (Note: You may be unable to access the video portions of this training using browsers other than Internet Explorer. I was unable to access video using Google Chrome.)
    2. Validation: Upon completion of the course, click on the post-test assessment and you will be provided a certificate of completion. Please forward a copy of this certificate to Diane Anderson, [email protected] seven days prior to the start of your course.
