There was a huge turnout at the Canine Olympics on Sunday. The event was held at the Woodford County Park in Versailles, KY to benefit the Woodford Humane Society. Information about PUPT and a great pictorial display of PUPT service and therapy dogs as well as the K-9 Safety program was exhibited at the tent. Several PUPT handlers and their dogs were on hand to greet and meet visitors who came to the tent.

Not only did the PUPT teams show their friendly side, they also got to show their competitive side.  The following are the PUPT teams and the contests in which they competed:

Best Trick

  • Cassie & Maize  (Rick Preston) - GOLD MEDAL WINNER
  • Pepper  (Sami Montgomery)

Smallest Dog and Shortest Dog

  • Bizzi B  (Cindy Barker)

Friendliest Dog

  • Boots  (Linda McKinley)
  • Bizzi B  (Cindy Barker)
  • Murphy  (Kimberly Brown) - MEDALIST
  • Pepper  (Sami Montgomery)

Straight Dash

  • Bella  (Cindy Barker)

Agility

  • Pepper  (Sami Montgomery)
  • Cassie  (Rick Preston)

Popcorn Toss

  • Sally  (Connie Coy)
  • Simba  (Linda McKinley)

I’ll Eat Anything

  • Sally  (Connie Coy)

WOOOOOHOOOO! to Rick Preston with Cassie and Maize for taking FIRST PLACE in the BEST TRICK contest and to Kimberly Brown with Murphy for taking SECOND PLACE in the Friendliest Dog contest.  On a personal note:  All PUPT teams who competed are winners in my doghouse.

We had a beautiful day at the Canine Olympics, even though we often wondered if the canopy was going to blow away.  Everyone had a good time meeting new people and telling them of the good work that PUPT dogs are doing.
