Lionel Seybold

On Friday, Ms. Stevens decided that the whole class should read to Lionel. He laid in the middle of the floor and was good as gold. It is as if he finally realized what he is doing there....Yes Liz you are right again. Anyway, each child was reading and one laid the book down to go back to his space and the page on the book started to turn. One of  the children said, "'we are going to loose our place." Lionel stuck his paw out and held the page. All of the children were totally excited at this amazing boy!!!! Of course he (Lionel) had no idea what he was doing but the children will never know. Also a little boy who really struggles started out reading really quietly and stumbled over a lot of words. On his second time around I told him to watch Lionel as he would help ...his voice became louder and he smiled after he read. Lionel gave a high five....My heart melted!!! I love this program.

I really like Ms. Stevens...I wish my son had had a teacher like her way back when.

Well, I said good-bye to my kids at Collins Lane Elementary today. The kids were even sad and asked if I would be with them next year. What an honor!!! Ms Stevens  proudly announced that her classroom WOULD have the program and maybe it would  be me. In the hallway she told me that  I  may never know what a  difference I made, but she could see it daily. There were several kids  who would not read in front of the class and as the year went on they first read  to me, as I drooled on the books, wagged my tail and put my paw on the book  to hold the place  (that is something they taught me to do). Eventually  they would read to the whole class without me there.

So after the kids loved and hugged on me, The Big Boy, I  said  good-bye. I guess I  will have to wait until next school year to put on my cool vest and walk the hall of a school......

Lionel and my side kick pat.
