How to become a Therapy Dog Team

Step #1:  Have your dog screened by your vet to make sure they are in good health.  Make sure all vaccinations are current and up to date.

Step #2:  Schedule a date when you can bring your dog to one of our obedience classes to be evaluated by our trainer.  Our obedience classes are held on Tuesday nights at 6:30 pm or Saturday mornings at 11:30am at our training facility.   The cost of the evaluation is $35. *Your dog cannot show any signs of aggression toward people, other dogs, or other animals.  Your dog must be spayed or neutered.

Step #3:  Attend training.  You will need to sign up for a 6 week course.  The course is $225. Once your dog is ready, you will be notified to begin your 10 hours of supervised visits as a therapy dog.

You will then be able to begin your therapy work as a team.

You will receive a K9 Therapy Certificate and insurance, good for one year.  You will need to renew your certification and insurance each year and receive an updated certificate.  You must have an up to date certificate to participate in therapy work.

We do not use the following in our training programs:

Prong Collars

Pinch Collars

E-Collars/Shock Collars

Choke Chains

Retractable Leash
